December 8

My wife hates the title of this song (Mary Had a C-Section.) I will give the point of this song right here for those who may stumble upon this site, or who actually read it. So the point is that, in my opinion, these happy pictures of the manger scenes with animals, angels, wisemen, and kings are all bogus. First, as many know, there were no wisemen (or 3 of them) or kings at the birth, maybe animals... It was probably disgusting and very unpleasant since they didn't get a room and were nearly outside.
Birth is tough and hardly majestic. Christ was born a man. You pinched him and he hurt... Giving birth back then was much more gross and harder then it is now. I think when we sugar coat the manger scene through stories and songs we give an untouchable impression of Christ. I think the stories should be more factual which would be more interesting and touchable to more people. Remember I said, "my opinion."

You know that song "Little Drummer Boy"? The drummer boy goes to the manger, Mary nods, he plays his drum for baby Jesus, then Jesus smiles.

Now come on! For nine months the baby has been in the womb with sounds muffled by the fluids he's floating in. And then Mary lets a kid pound on a snare drum in his face hours after he is born? And he smiles? Nonsense.

They should rename the song "Little Ear-damage Boy".
